DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision and in accordance with established policy and procedure, is responsible for scheduling procedures/visits for Montefiore Nyack Hospital departments, and accurately obtaining required information for hospital records, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payer needs. Additionally, staff will ensure that patients have all necessary information regarding their coverage and benefits related to their visit and inform patients of their financial obligations so that they arrive prepared. The schedgistrar duties also include generating weekly status reports, communications with multiple departments, collection of deposits and co-pays, and notifying financial counselors of any self-pay or uninsured patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous work experience in customer service and general clerical/office procedures, required; Experience with EMR Scheduling and Registration; Minimum one year experience in a hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company, preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Medical Terminology certification preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficient with Microsoft; EMR. Scheduling and Registration programs; Demonstrated problem-solving and inductive reasoning skills.
