A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SHIFT ENGINEER
As a shift Engineer for our retirement community, you ensure that our building automation system, central plant and Fire system are all running properly. If there are issues, you would perform repairs on plumbing, minor electrical and HVAC systems in assigned residences and common areas. Taking a proactive approach, you also perform preventive maintenance. Each month, you perform maintenance checks of the building, grounds and facilities.
As emergencies arise, you quickly respond to and resolve equipment or building-related problems reported by residents, employees or other Customers. This may include lifeline phones, door monitor, alarm systems and nursing call light systems. You are also swift to respond to emergencies related to plumbing, fire, fire alarms and emergency generator systems. It is rewarding to know that your building management abilities keep our retirement community residents and employees safe
Requirements:
- 1st Class Limited Operators License with the City of Tulsa
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required
- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, boilers, refrigerators, freezers and HVAC
- Basic computer skills to utilize the electronic work order system via iPod or computer
- Excellent verbal communication skills in order to provide quality customer service and handle difficult situations
- Proficiency in operating an alarm monitoring system, fire panel and SARA system
- Solid problem solving skills and decision making skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of quality customer management and service
- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse leadership team, staff, residents, and third party associates, including vendors, providers, and visitors
- Strong mechanical aptitude, and desire to learn operational systems and subsystems
- An extensive amount of standing, walking, kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching above the head and shoulders
- Ability to occasionally crouch and crawl in confined spaces and routinely climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to routinely lift and push up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent use of ordinary communication, including normal levels of hearing and vision, including both near and far seeing, color discrimination, field of vision, and depth perception
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license and satisfactory results on MVR check
