What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perfusionist position at Monterey Consultants, Inc.?
Join us as a Contract Cardiac Perfusionist at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center located in North Chicago, IL.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Shall assist the Cardio-Thoracic service with by-pass surgical cases and valve replacement of various types.
- Shall perform onsite perfusion services in the treatment of care of eligible veteran beneficiaries as referred and authorized by the Ann Arbor VAMC.
- Responsible for preparation and operation of the heart and lunch machine/pumps in conjunction with maintaining a sterile environment for procedures maintaining blood volume in the patients preventing shock or air embolus.
- Assemble supplies and equipment in preparation to accept patients on extra corporeal circulation in cases of premature cardiac arrest or failure.
- Other services include preparation, maintenance, and operation of VA owned equipment to include the heart lung machine, intra-aortic balloon pump and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
Anticipated Schedule: Full-time, 7:30A-4P M-F. Call required. Precise hours to be provided by Recruiter upon release of VA task order.
Anticipated Period of Performance: Start date within next 90 days. 6-12 months with renewal options. Precise length of contract to be provided by Recruiter upon release of VA task order.
Qualifications:
· Education. Candidates must hold a degree in perfusion as described below in paragraphs (1) and (2) that has been accredited by either CAAHEP or EQualTM Canada at the time the program was completed.
(1) Bachelor's or Master's degree in perfusion from a program in the United States or Canada accredited by the CAAHEP or EQualTM Canada.
OR,
(2) Bachelor's or master's degree in addition to a post-baccalaureate certificate in perfusion from a program accredited by CAAHEP or the EQualTM Canada.
NOTE: The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
· Certification. Active certification as a Perfusionist. Persons hired or reassigned to CP positions in VHA must be board-certified in the field of clinical perfusion as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist by the ABCP. The board certification must be current, and the applicant must abide by the certifying body's requirements for continuing education. BLS required.
· Experience. Experience shall be demonstrated in the following areas: Open heart surgery, heart lung machine, membrane oxygenation, left/right heart bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
· No sponsorship available.
· Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3.j.
· Subject to background/security investigation.
- Must pass TB test.
- Complete an online onboarding process.
- Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
