Join us as a Vascular Surgeon at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center located in Clarksburg, WV .

Duties include :

  • Estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care. Contractor shall be responsible for Vascular Surgery care, including clinic coverage, surgical coverage, on-call 24 / 7 (including weekdays, weekends, holidays), remote and onsite consultations, and any rounding related to patient care.
  • Responsible for patient care documentation including pre-operative notes, operative reports, post-operative reports, and outpatient clinic notes.
  • Provide all Vascular Surgical Services by attending supervision as determined by VA guidelines.
  • Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
  • Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Neurosurgery clinical or surgical patients.

Schedule : Schedule for services may vary. Typical full-time schedule M-F, 7 : 30A-4P. Call required weeknights, weekends, and holidays (during non-business hours). Must be available for phone consultations with VA residents and physicians. 15 minute phone call response required, on-site within 60 minutes.

Period of Performance : Initial period March 1st 2025 - Feb 28th 2026 with 4 additional 1-year renewal options.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • License and Certification : Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgery. Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any US State, Territory, and Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Active BLS and ACLS required.
  • DEA required.
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) / Certified Education Unit (CEU) : Contractor shall provide the COR copies of current CMEs as required or requested by the VAMC. Contract physician(s) registered or certified by national / medical associations shall continue to meet the minimum standards for CME to remain current. Contractor shall report CME hours to the credentials office for tracking. These documents are required for both privileging and re-privileging. Failure to provide shall result in loss of privileges for contract physician(s).
  • Experience : Must be able to demonstrate technical proficiency in skills necessary to fulfill job requirements.
  • MTs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3.j.
  • Subject to background / security investigation.
  • Must pass TB test.
  • Complete an online onboarding process.
  • Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12 / 31 / 1959.
