Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Principal, the Paraeducator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students who are enrolled in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.
Requirements / Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications: Possession of an appropriate valid California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability First Aid Complete approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintains valid certification CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment Program for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing: Ability to pass the MCOE sign language test within six (6) months of employment
Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR able to meet a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children or children/individuals with disabilities

$150 per month incentive for Paraeducators working in the DHH program with proficiency in sign language, as certified by MCOE $150 per month incentive for Paraeducators with proficiency in Braille and working in a position eligible for this incentive $150 per month incentive for Specialized Health Care Procedures if assigned to specific students and trained by MCOE $500 annual training incentive to employees who are requested and volunteer to participate in training for certification and willingness to administer emergency medications/procedures as defined by contract
