ABOUT THE ROLE: The Packing Supervisor works on the floor and is available to assist the Packing Manager and Forepersons in managing the day-to-day functions of the packing department. The role is responsible for assuring on-time order fulfillment with a quality product.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Packing Coordinator to manage and control a daily schedule of personnel to meet Packing/Shipping needs.
Manage and maintain CAS Pack Control Database and all CAS functions
Monitor CAS & JDE Business Systems to ensure all work orders are maintained and current.
Monitor cooler and material inventory and review the JDE cycle count to ensure sufficient inventory is on hand for JDE work orders to issue.
Direct the daily operation to ensure that productivity is maintained, and the product is packed on time with regard to truck departure schedules; maximize the efficiency of the packing lines.
Resolve issues team members raise; provide feedback to aid in skill development and confidence; coach team members and take corrective action as needed.
Create and/or maintain shrink controls to include daily overfill studies, dumped product tracking, rework tracking, and cooler shrink testing; control packaging materials usage, including weekly/daily inventory, usages, and calculation of on-hand inventory needs; communicate issues related to the quality of materials.
Create and/or maintain cooler inventories to include daily preparation, dating/rotation, shrink, and calculation of on-hand inventory needs and their accuracy.
Liaise with other departments to ensure that the product is properly selected; monitor and track productivity to meet targets.
Train Packing personnel, including new employee orientation, position assignment training, and safety training; provide retraining as needed; ensure performance evaluations are performed timely for all employees.
Enforce and comply with all GMP/HACCP and Safety rules and regulations. Attend and/or conduct Safety meetings as required
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in preparation for inspections, tours, and visitors and assures all necessary preparation are carried out
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Reports: All hourly positions
In addition to managing current direct reports; this position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department.
Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training direct reports.
Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action.
Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.
Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.
Observe and practice safety and housekeeping procedures at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
2-3 years’ supervisory experience
Familiar with all aspects of Packing, including operation of all equipment and customers’ expectations
Basic knowledge of computers
Basic math skills
May be required to operate a forklift
Desired:
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Associate degree or equivalent Packing experience
