SUMMARY: The Assistant Professional is responsible for the functions, duties, and responsibilities associated with pro shop operations including, merchandising, tournament planning and execution, Member/Guest customer Service and Cart areas
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional with the many day to day responsibilities of running the Monterey Peninsula Country Club Golf Operation.
• Comply with all Monterey Peninsula Country Club policies, procedures, and safety program.
• Greet and assist members and guests with golf registration, scheduling tee times, and answering questions.
• Operate register to compute total price of guest fees, green fees, cart fees, merchandise and services and complete sales transaction by posting charges to members’ accounts; ensure the proper charging to member’s accounts.
• Prepare register sales reconciliation and routine reports.
• Perform basic bookkeeping and computer point-of-sale functions.
• Respond to situations which demand assistance with carts, bags, and any other member-related service.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area and ensuring the pro shop floor area is neat and presentable; help fluff and fold soft goods.
• Responsible for being familiar with retail merchandise and assisting in sales; maximize sales potential of members and guests shopping in the Pro Shop.
• Maintain knowledge of golf equipment and all other areas of golf.
• Change all merchandise displays weekly and fold Pro Shop clothing.
• Participate in merchandise buying.
• Assist in receiving merchandising, ordering supplies for shop, and recording daily accounting for printing and supplies.
• Participate in physical inventories.
• Assist in keeping accurate bookkeeping of merchandise, specials orders, and returns.
• Assist in keeping Head Golf Professional apprised if any supplies or members' merchandise needs are not met.
• Handle special orders in a timely manner.
• Follow the opening and closing procedures to ensure the Pro Shop buildings are always secure.
• Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in keeping with the tradition of Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
• Attend and participate in Departmental meetings.
• Ensure all services to members are provided in a highly professional and efficient manner with strong attention to detail.
• Support safe work habits and always contributes to a safe working environment. Report injuries timely.
• Consistently maintain the ability to come to work regularly and on time.
• Follow directions, get along with co-workers and supervisors, treat co-workers, supervisors and members and their guests with respect and courtesy, contributes to a positive and rewarding team environment and refrains from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior.
• Other duties and jobs may be assigned as needed by supervisor.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Strong knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf
• Ability to play the game of golf at a level commensurate with a PGA professional.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, assess problems, and problem-solve.
• Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to be flexible, adaptable and customer service oriented.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties.
• Ability to work successfully with a variety of individuals with various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
• One years’ experience working in golf pro shop and/or outside services.
• PGA Class A Member in good standing; or enrolled in and actively working towards PGA Membership
• Private club or resort experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
• Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
• Occasionally move boxes and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the Club.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position up 25% of the time.
• Must have mobility and range of motion capabilities to play the game of golf.
• Must be able to occasionally move about both the inside and the outside of the Club.
• Must have mobility and range of motion capabilities to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, fax machine, Point of Sale system, and computer printer.
