This individual receives incoming specimens requisition forms from our Endoscopy Center and inputs the grossing data into our LIS Program AP Easy. Generate the pathology results into a report after the pathologist signs them out. We use Athena to upload all the pathology results into the patient’s chart. We will bill and be in communication with the billing department throughout the day. There is a list of administrative duties that will be needed to be completed throughout the day. This includes constant communication with the lab personnel and pathologists as requests are made.

The Pathology Administrative Job requires to be sitting and working on a computer for most of the 8-hour shift. The admin personnel will have to go into the lab to grab slides or blocks needed as requested by the pathologists.

- Get specimen requisition forms from the team in the lab in the AM.
- Check specimen requisition forms for ERM Polypectomy (different billing codes)
- Enter the grossing details into AP Easy.
- Check stains/request worklist for send outs. Enter number of send outs and H&E Exhaust requests into CQI processing totals for each day.
- Get completed req forms from the pathologist’s office.
- Save patient’s path report to GI path reports folder.
- Upload path report and create path letter template.
- Organizes and distributes paperwork for slides.
- Uses and navigates though Athena EMR and AP Easy Programs.
- Keep an organized and detailed work area to prevent any errors.

Required education and experience
- High school diploma or a GED
- Interest in working in a pathology laboratory environment.
- Pathology Laboratory experience preferred.
- Be able to read and write in English proficiently.
Preferred education and experience
- Experienced in a medical office or Pathology Laboratory preferred.
- Medical Assistant preferred.
- ASCP Histotechnician Certification Preferred.
- Medical education preferred.
- Science/biology education preferred.
