Upper Elementary Montessori Teacher
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a dynamic, upper elementary lead teacher for the upcoming 2024/2025 school year. The Upper Elementary Teacher is responsible for maintaining a high standard Montessori environment that fosters a positive learning environment and supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of students aged 9-12 years (4th- 6th Grade). The role requires a genuine respect for students and passion for education, a commitment to continuous self-improvement, and effective communication with parents and staff. A love for outdoors is also essential.

MASV is a dedicated Montessori school committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for our students in Federal Way, Washington, 35 minutes south of Seattle. We believe in the holistic development of children, emphasizing outdoor exploration, academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement.
Our school is entering its 73rd school year and we are looking for an upper elementary teacher that can help us to modernize our classroom, while keeping true to the Montessori principles. Nestled on 14 acres of wetlands, a portion of each day is spent outside working, learning, releasing salmon, and exploring. Rain gear is essential to this job!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain a high quality Montessori learning environment.
Implement curriculum tailored to meet the developmental needs of upper elementary students both inside and outside the classroom.
Work closely with colleagues, including other teachers and administrative staff, to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
Maintain open, consistent, and effective communication with parents regarding their child's progress, classroom activities, and school events. Experience using Transparent Classroom is a plus!
Participate in the improvement of the upper elementary classroom environment and materials.
Provide individualized support and guidance to students to ensure their academic and personal growth.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices and Montessori methods.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA degree
- Montessori Teaching Diploma from a MACTE accredited training center (9-12, or 6-12)
- Confidence in your Montessori practice
- A strong ability to engage with parents and invite them on this journey of their child’s education
- Adaptable and open to starting new ideas and changes within the classroom and school environment while staying true to the Montessori Method.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Teaching credential
- AMI/AMS trained
