The Montessori Academy of Chicago is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team of highly motivated educators in our Elementary and Early Childhood programs to start later this spring and work through the summer. Specifically, we’re hiring for an Assistant Teacher position for our summer camp programming for children 3-6 years old and 6-12 years old. This position reports directly to the classroom’s Lead Teacher or the Elementary Summer Camp Director, and must work collaboratively with other Teacher’s Assistants and Elementary Team. This is a full-time, hourly position with the opportunity for full-time year-round employment starting in the fall and support to further Montessori training and growth.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
- Planning and implementing art projects, games and group activities.
- Building nurturing and engaging relationships with children.
- Responsible for classroom management, supervision, and maintaining complete and accurate attendance records.
- Ensuring safety during transitions and communicating with children in a developmentally appropriate matter.
- Role modeling social skills and classroom behavior expectations appropriate to the age group.
- Implementing positive behavior supports for students and encouraging relationship building.
- Building a sense of community with classroom team, parents and students.
- Daily responsibilities include washing dishes, sanitizing materials, restocking supplies, and preparing the classroom environment for the following school day.
- Qualifications and Skills:
- Applicants must be able to work Monday - Friday from 9:30am-6:00pm.
- Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years experience working with early childhood or elementary aged children. Some college is preferred.
- Applicants must be able to pass a background check, TB test, and physical.
- Applicants should be able to communicate with children, parents and other staff members.
