What are the responsibilities and job description for the Montessori Preschool Teacher position at Montessori Global?
The teacher will understand and promote the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The teacher is responsible for providing a Montessori classroom / instructional program that supports the individual needs of the children in accordance with this mission and vision.
Department of Children & Families (DCF) training and licensing required within first 90 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Environment:
- Design and maintain a prepared Montessori environment that is clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing.
- Ensure all materials and activities are in good condition and aligned with Montessori principles.
- Rotate and introduce new materials based on children's developmental needs and interests.
Child Development and Education:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to Montessori curriculum and support individual learning styles.
- Observe each child to understand their unique needs and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Foster independence, self-discipline, and a love of learning in children.
Health and Hygiene:
- Ensure children are clean and maintain a healthy appearance throughout the day.
- Follow proper procedures for diaper changing, adhering to Montessori standards for hygiene and child safety.
- Monitor children's health and well-being, addressing any issues promptly and appropriately.
Parent Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide detailed reports on children's development.
Classroom Management:
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and support staff in the classroom.
- Implement positive discipline strategies that respect each child's dignity and promote a harmonious classroom environment.
- Related duties as assigned.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development and Montessori training.
- Stay updated with current Montessori practices and early childhood education research.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure the classroom environment complies with all school policies and state regulations.
- Conduct regular safety checks and maintain emergency procedures.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and any incidents.
- Prepare reports as required by the school administration.
Qualifications:
- Montessori certification for the toddler age group (0-3) from an accredited Montessori training center preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with toddlers.
- Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit on the floor and interact at the child's level.
- Stamina to keep up with the demands of active toddlers.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
