JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Math Interventionist Status: Salary
Reports To: School Principal FLSA: Exempt
Summary of Position:
The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students. The Interventionist will also provide support and guidance through modeling and mentoring of mathematic skills.
Core Areas of Responsibility:
- Academics
- Assess children throughout the school and identify children at risk.
- Design and implement math academic interventions using research-based methodology.
- Communicate with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading levels and rate of progress.
- Gather, compile, and disaggregate data; and link that data to student learning and instruction.
- Differentiate instruction based on assessment data.
- Document interventions and progress on each child.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of MRCS.
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Montessori Physical Environment
- Maintain the Montessori environment which includes Order, Organization and Beauty as well as the safety and security of the physical environment
- Ensure hallways and cubbies are orderly and clean
- Classroom Management
- Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement
- Participating in Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings as needed
- Supporting students and administration in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support philosophy
- Assisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom setting
- Participating in faculty meetings and professional learning communities meetings
- Assisting in orientation and open houses as needed
- Modeling nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
- Performing other job related functions as may be assigned
- Being punctual

Education/Experience:
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of Pennsylvania mathematics curriculum and assessment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification K-8
- Concentration/Certification in mathematics preferred
- 5 years Teaching Experience
- Ability to attend Montessori Training if required
