Summary
We are looking for a Primary (3-6yo) Teacher for the Spring Semester of 2024-2025 school year. Candidates should hold Children’s House / Primary / EC certification from a MACTE-accredited training center or have established experience leading a classroom with young children and be willing to begin training. We are looking for individuals who will be committed to upholding Montessori techniques and philosophy while supporting colleagues and families with an emphasis on collaboration and support.
Hours are M-F, 8-3 or 8-4 for the academic year (late August-early June).
For the right candidate this position could carry over to the 2025-26 school year.
Duties
- preparation and maintenance of classroom, curriculum and materials
- ensuring all licensing standards are met, especially correct staff-to-child ratios and maintenance of sight and sound regulations
- documentation of lessons given and documentation of classroom observations
- planning and collaboration with other MSC teachers
- regular communication with families, including but not limited to weekly emails, Parent Education meetings, Parent / Teacher conferences, documentation of any academic or behavioral issues, etc.
- support and mentor-ship of colleagues using Montessori training and experience
- attendance at regular staff meetings and teacher work days
- creation of and following through with personal goals for PD / maintenance of Montessori certification
- participation self-evaluation process
- awareness of and willingness to honor confidentiality
- creation and maintenance of the classroom and the school as a safe and respectful space for children and adults
- on-time arrival and mindfulness of absences to minimize their effect on the children
