Montessori School of Flagstaff is seeking a Special Education Director
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or Higher
- Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate
- Valid Arizona State Special Education Certificate
- Experience as a classroom teacher and/or interventionist
- Communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and skills in organizational management
- Dedication to professional learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher/Director
- Other training related to the needs of the position

- Ensure procedural safeguards are in place and communicate effectively with families
- Follow Exit Procedures
- Progress Monitoring
- Report sent home on all written goals at least 4-times/year
- 2-Week progress monitoring to address growth goals specifically for reading
- Documented adjustments
- Progress Monitoring data uploaded into the specific program (DIBLES…)
- Student Groups
- Internal service minutes completed weekly
- Researching and selecting curriculum

- Supervise SPED Aides
- Communicate expectations
- Schedule regular check in meetings
- Provide curriculum and guidance
- Evaluate performance
- Service Provider Coordination
- Serve as liaison between service providers and teachers/school
- Communicate when service providers are out
- Updated speech RTI rosters
- Develop, with service providers, and communicate to school staff service provider schedule
- Onboarding service providers to follow norms of the school
- Meeting Agendas/Facilitation
- Coordinate transition meetings between campuses and middle school-high school
- Preparing and sending meeting agendas at least 48 hours before meeting
- Effectively facilitate meetings
- Professional Learning
- Seek out professional learning opportunities
- Remain up to date on laws and regulations related to SPED and 504
- Extended School Year (ESY)
- Coordinate ESY
- Select curriculum
- Log minutes
- Write and ensure compliance for 504s
- Coordinate Child Study Team Process for students already identified for special education
