Montessori School of San Diego is seeking a passionate and dedicated Roving Teacher to join our vibrant Montessori community.
About the Role:
As a Roving Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting our lead and assistant Montessori teachers across multiple classrooms, ages 3-9. You will collaborate with teachers to ensure a seamless learning experience for all students, helping to provide individual and small group instruction aligned with the Montessori philosophy.
Responsibilities:
- Work with all staff and within all classrooms and go where needed.
- Work in the aftercare program each day.
- Sub for classroom teachers when needed.
- Collaborate with lead and assistant Montessori teachers to observe, assess, and document student progress.
- Facilitate student learning through hands-on exploration and discovery.
- Model the Montessori philosophy and foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring a positive and stimulating learning environment.
- Prepare and maintain Montessori materials, ensuring they are readily available for student use.
- Communicate effectively with lead and teachers regarding student progress and development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Work the hours of 9:30-5:30 M-F, excluding school breaks and holidays.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children
- 12 units Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Willing to undergo livescan fingerprinting and background check
- Up to date health screening for childcare facility
- Up to date mandated reporter certification
- Up to date infant/child CPR certification
- Strong understanding of the Montessori philosophy and its application in the classroom is preferred.
- Excellent observation and assessment skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Passion for child development and a commitment to fostering a love of learning.
