Job Title : Lead Toddler Teacher
Montessori Torah Academy teachers establish a welcoming classroom where each child feels cared for and respected. The learning environment is student-centered and self-paced, allowing children to explore their own interests while mastering skills and knowledge. Our Montessori program lays the groundwork for academic success by emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, independent focus and working in collaboration with others.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Prepare and maintain a learning environment that is clean, organized, and enticing for young learners.
Ability to plan or uphold the Montessori curriculum and lessons tailored to the developmental needs of children.
Use behavior management techniques individually tailored to each child and promote classroom normalization. Willingness to train in Collaborative Problem Solving through the school is a must.Carefully observe each child, recording academic progress and offering new challenges.Support each child’s full development socially, mentally, physically and emotionally.Maintain positive relationships and communications with parents and peers.Actively participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.Required Skills / Abilities :
Love, patience, and respect for children.Knowledge of Montessori principles and materials.Knowledge of early childhood development.Effective communication skills, both written and oral.Strong problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.Collaborates effectively with colleagues / co-teacher.Aids toddlers in potty training following the child's lead and developmental readiness.The lead toddler teacher will be a guide for students in :Developing basic language skillsProblem solvingVisual discriminationPhysical coordinationPhycal Requirements :
Toddlers are very active. To teach toddlers effectively and keep them safe, the teacher must be physically able to keep up with children. a. Be able to lift up to 25 pounds : Move a child during an emergency; lift / carry child if needed.Be able to run : Reach a child quickly / protect a child during an emergency; participate in physical play with children to keep them engaged.Be able to sit on the floor : Toddlers play on the floor. Teachers must be able to interact with children on their level. Toddlers explore and change activities frequently, teachers must be physically able to get off the floor and sit back down easily.Stamina : Toddlers move constantly throughout their day. Teachers must be able to maintain the same level of energy throughout the day.Activities : Able to participate in outdoor and indoor activities.Preferred Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in early education or a related fieldMontessori Certification for Toddler educationPrior teaching experience in a Montessori environment.Strong skills in Transparent Classroom or willingness to learn.Experience in a classroom environment is a MUST.Salary equal with experience and qualifications. This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.
Lead teachers must be available to work as of August 1st,2025. Possible summer hours may be required to develop the classroom and aid in the prepared environment.
