Part-Time Academic Advisor (2 openings)
Position Reports to the Director of Advising
Hourly Rate: $36.05/hour (2024-2025 faculty contract rate)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
This position is open until filled.
This position is 5 days per week with a total of 25 hours per week. During peak times, employee may work up to 29 hours. Must be available to work day, evening and weekend hours.
- This position has college-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations.
**This position requires the candidate to submit the following (3) three clearances as a condition of pre-employment: Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Check, and FBI Fingerprints

Basic Purpose:
This position provides one-on-one as well as group academic, career and college transfer advising to students resulting in a heightened level of student engagement, comprehensive decision-making and utilization of a vast array of services to support student success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides academic, transfer and career counseling.
- Advises prospective, new and returning students concerning an educational plan that assists in meeting academic and/or professional goals.
- Participates in case management for identified students (i.e. probation, Early Alert, etc.).
- Participates in College Outreach activities such as Open House, New Student Orientation, high school on-site advising, etc.
- Supports the Contact Center with answering and responding to academic advising emails and participates in regular outreach.
- Engages in on-going learning through innovative professional development including, but not limited to, workshops, conferences, and other professional meetings that promote currency in discipline knowledge and instructional methods.
- Acts as a resource for faculty and staff.
- Works as a collaborative, professional member of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management team.
- Adheres to professional and ethical standards of conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of student development theory, including career and transfer decision making.
- Experienced in developmental or college level advising.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of technologies.
- Evidence of continued professional growth and development.
- Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as under-resourced groups and first-generation students.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.
