About the Role:
The Montgomery County Development Authority is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our economic development efforts. This pivotal role involves spearheading initiatives to attract new businesses, support existing industries, and foster sustainable growth within our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategy that aligns with the county's vision and leverages our unique strengths.
- Actively pursue leads and cultivate relationships with prospective businesses, including site selectors, developers, and entrepreneurs.
- Collaborate with local government officials, community organizations, and business leaders to create a pro-business environment.
- Manage the Development Authority's budget and resources effectively.
- Represent Montgomery County at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
- Stay abreast of economic trends and best practices in rural economic development.
- Prepare and present regular reports to the Development Authority board and county commissioners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in economic development, business administration, planning, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in economic development, preferably in a rural or small-town setting.
- Strong understanding of business attraction, retention, and expansion strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in grant writing and project management.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

- This is an in-person position based in Mount Vernon, Georgia.
- Experience working with limited resources and a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities is highly desirable.
