What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director - PreK Counts position at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit 23?
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field, Master's preferred.
- Valid PA Supervisory Level Certificate in appropriate field of expertise and/or a valid PA Elementary or Secondary Principal.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an early childhood education setting with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of PreK Counts regulations.
- Demonstrated supervisory and training skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with administration, families, children and all concerned in the program.
- Provide own transportation.
- Ability to work with and relate to young children and families of diverse backgrounds.
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, the Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and monitoring in all service areas.
- Participate in staff meetings, attend conferences, training/workshops, and meet education standards as required.
- Demonstrate familiarity with MCIU PreK Counts Policies and Procedures, PreK Counts Statute, Regulations and Guidelines, and the program mission.
- Assist the Director of PreK Counts in the monitoring and control of component budgets: identification and interpretation of PreK Counts community needs: in accordance to the PreK Counts Performance Standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Director of PreK Counts with overall administration of the MCIU Pre-K Counts Program by guidelines established by PA Keys Pre-K Counts Statute, Regulations and Guidelines and MCIU Pre-K Counts policies and procedures.
- Assist the Director in compiling the Community Needs Assessment and work with local school districts to continue to build relationships to provide Pre-K Counts programs in their districts.
- Assist the Director in the preparation of PreK Counts grant proposals. Prepare additional grant proposals under the guidance of the Director of the program.
- Assist the Director with supporting, mentoring ad evaluating Pre-K Counts Teaching and Support staff.
- Ensure and or obtain and renew all required licenses necessary for program operations.
- Serve on committees, work groups, and Boards or relevant community agencies.
- Design, develop and disseminate publications to provide information and guidance regarding the PreK Counts program.
- Work with current MCIU Partners to provide support in management of eligibility and enrollment, fulfilment of teacher certification requirements, curriculum and ECERS support and application support.
- Assist in the establishment of partnerships and collaborative relationships with business, non-profit, local and national organizations.
- Plan, organize, direct and provide leadership in the development and implementation of the compliance and quality review programs, and collaborate with staff in ensuring operational compliance.
- Identify problem areas and recommend and implement effective problem solutions.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form. Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
