SUMMARY

The Assistant Parental Support Officer will have a knowledge of and ability to apply state and federal guidelines in reference to Domestic Relations Sections support matters. Individuals must be able to work within a team setting to accomplish unit goals and objectives while maintaining a strong, independent work ethic to manage an individual workload. The APSO will communicate in person, via phone and email with clients, attorneys, Court and other County Departments, as well as DRS staff, and must reflect a professional and positive demeanor at all times. A sound knowledge and adherence to DRS office policy and procedures is necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in daily operations of the unit including but not limited to the establishment and enforcement of child support orders.
  • Case processing including but not limited to :

Scheduling of support conferences and hearings.

  • Mailing and emailing notices, orders and other related documents.
  • Updating case information and records.
  • Docketing and processing of court orders.
  • Provide on-site and remote support to Conference Officers and management staff.
  • Maintain on-site equipment as needed, such as printers and PCs.
  • Data entry.
  • Processing and distribution of daily mail.
  • Assist clients in person, as necessary.
  • Work with other DRS units to accomplish office wide objectives.
  • Participate in and assist in completion of unit or office projects.
  • Communicate with clients, attorneys, DRS and court staff via phone, email and written correspondence.
  • Review cases for subsequent action and complete as directed.
  • Maintain required unit records and statistics? Utilize all resources to complete tasks.
  • Apply Rules of Civil Procedure appropriately to assigned work.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops.
  • Electronically collect legal documents, wage data, and confidential related case details.
  • Promote a positive and professional work environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties / related work as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Data entry.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent customer service skills and must have a professional demeanor.
  • Emotional intelligence.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible (able to acclimate easily).
  • Technologically proficient.
  • Ability to properly maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to learn and maintain working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations that impact Child Support Enforcement including but not limited to the Code of Federal Regulations, PA Rules of Civil Procedure, Intergovernmental Support laws, Hague, and the Cooperative Agreement.
