Position Overview
Entry level in the plant maintenance occupation requiring some knowledge of electronics as well as electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; under close supervision, is trained to maintain, repair, replace, modify, and calibrate electrical and automation controls, electronic instrumentation, mechanical and process control equipment.
Summary of Job Duties
Train under close supervision on installation, maintenance, repairing and/or modifying a variety of water treatment and/or water reclamation equipment such as pumps, blowers, drive motors (AC and DC) major control valves, clarifiers and filtering systems, chlorination systems, vacuum systems, blowers and fans, heat exchangers and duct work. Learn to repair, maintain, and calibrate chemical feed systems. Learn to install, inspect and operate emergency stand-by power generator systems. Learn to repair and/or replace equipment and parts ( e.g., pumps, motors, packing, seals, impellers, shafts, coils, valves, piping systems, cables, chains, gears) and to perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment (e. g. changes oil and oil filters; lubricates motors; change fuses; oils, greases, checks belts, bearings and seals). Learn to repair/replace parts in accordance with established preventive maintenance schedule. Train in inspection of electrical and piping connections and changing fuses. Learn to fabricate/install auxiliary equipment and devices to replace existing installations or for use in repair operations. Under close supervision, learn to install, inspect and service electro/chemical monitoring equipment such as flow meters, chlorine and other gas detectors, chart recorders and other probes to maintain effectiveness and compliance with mandated standards.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Completion of core course work toward an Associate's Degree in electronic or mechanical engineering and two (2) years of industrial electromechanical maintenance and repair experience - OR Advanced post-secondary education/training in electromechanical technology and three (3) years of experience in industrial electrical or mechanical maintenance - Or -
Education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
