SUMMARY
The Office Support Person provides support to clients and attorneys in the Montgomery County Public Defender's Office. This role is public-facing and involves assisting members of the public in applying for representation as well as internally assisting in data entry, outreach to Magisterial District Courts, and general administrative and clerical support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with other support personnel at the direction of the Chief Clerk to handle intake of all client applications including online submissions and members of the public applying in-person for Defender representation.
Answer a high volume of phone calls and route calls appropriately.
Create and maintain both digital and physical case files, including data entry in digital case management system.
Work alongside Chief of the Pretrial Unit to create and update physical case files including filing and scanning documents.
Provide general support to members of the public who come to the office with questions about applying, contacting their attorney, etc.
Responsible for general administrative and clerical support.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Credentials
Experience and Skills
Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills required.
Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
Reliable transportation required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking in an office environment is required.
Significant and repeated use of a keyboard.
