IMMEDIATE OPENING
Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a Secondary Band teacher currently employed by MCPS to assist the Director of Secondary Education with the development of curriculum in the MCPS Secondary Band programs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in the development of the written curriculum for the MCPS Secondary Band program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.
- Plan and facilitate curriculum meetings to create and maintain oversight of the division curriculum for the Secondary Band program
- Work with the Director of Secondary Education to provide resource support and instructional coordination for all MCPS Secondary Band staff
- Serve as a point of contact for all secondary band teachers and act as a liaison between the teachers and the Director of Secondary Education
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- A secondary band teacher currently employed by MCPS
- Experience in developing and implementing curriculum
- Experience in using the curriculum to develop lesson plans and appropriate resources
- Experience and expertise in using technology in education
- Experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration and course work
- Effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong professional, interpersonal, and communication skills for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community
- Experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Hold a Virginia Teacher’s License with an appropriate endorsement to teach music PreK-12
