Summary Description Of Classification
Under direction of the Division of Teaching and Learning, Department of Academic Programs, is responsible for the administration of the department, as well as providing leadership for the designing, planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring of countywide , regional , and distance learning programs to include: Online Learning, Blended Learning Program, Interim Instructional Services, Outdoor Environmental Education Programs, Career Readiness Education Academy Plus, Summer School, and Out of School Time. Serves as lead for equitable access to district academic programs including analysis of program access and the development and implementation of a framework for equitable program access. Provides leadership and supervision for department staff in program development and implementation as well as responsive improvements through program evaluation and direct supports to schools. Requires presentations to the Board of Education and frequent presentations to and dialogue with community members, local and state officials, and media representatives. Provides updates, guidance and support to principals regarding program implementation and planning. Oversees related Professional Learning for Teachers. Collaborates with district staff to ensure equitable opportunities for all students. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) None SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Attendance at evening Board of Education meetings, Parent Teacher Association presentations, award ceremonies, and other programs may be required.

Education, Training, And Experience
Master's degree with focus in the area of curriculum and/or administration. Minimum three years? experience as a program supervisor/director, school-based administrator, and/or principal; experience providing leadership in designing, planning, and implementing instructional programs. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and lead a wide range of varied projects in a complex school system.CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland state certification requirements for Administrator I. Completion of Observing and Analyzing Teaching I or II, or completion within one-year of the position start date.
