SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
School Year 2024-2025
The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for school psychologist positions that may become available within our division for the 2024 – 2025 school year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The School Psychologist duties include, but are not limited to:
- Administering a variety of psychological evaluations to students to aid in determining eligibility for Special Education services
- Determines the test(s) to be given to the students on an as needed basis with respect to the referral (e.g. behavioral problems, emotional problems, learning disabilities)
- Assists in conducting re-evaluations of special education students when requested
- Confers with parents and school personnel to interpret test findings
- Consults with teachers and parents to explain the needs of the special education student
- Recommends to teachers and guidance counselors special activities geared to help the special education student
- Recommends alternative learning strategies to teachers of special education
- Helps identify all types of exceptional children within the school
- Assists with in-service training of school personnel
- Cooperates with community health and social welfare agencies
- Attends Child Study/Case Consultation meetings
- Writes a psychological report on every student that is referred to special education
- Provides individual and group counseling services to students
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a Pupil Personnel Services Certificate
- Hold a master’s degree in School Psychology
- Hold a state endorsement as a school psychologist
- Ability to support students by cooperatively working with parents/guardians and teachers
- Have experience and expertise in using technology in education
- Have experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Have experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration and course work
- Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families
- Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with a team of other teachers
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced or have working familiarity with virtual education
SALARY: $51,475.80 - $86,682.10 annually, with benefits; plus a $1,500 stipend
