The Montgomery County School Board, Virginia, is now accepting applications for a Gifted Resource teacher position that may be available in the division for the school year 2024-2025.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Gifted Resource teacher serves students throughout the division and coordinates the identification and placement of gifted students; provides support for the classroom teacher in development and delivery of differentiated curriculum; and works directly with gifted students. The Gifted Resource teacher uses a collaborative model in working with the principals and teachers to provide services to the students and is a member of a cadre of teachers who conduct staff development sessions on gifted identification, curriculum, and instruction at the school and division levels.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Virginia teacher’s license with an endorsement in elementary or secondary education
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience working with gifted and high ability students
- Have experience in curriculum development and lesson planning
- Have experience and expertise in using technology in education
- Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Have experience fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Have experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration and course work
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families
- Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with a team of other teachers
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess an endorsement in gifted education
- Have experience in secondary English education
