Immediate Opening
Montgomery County Public Schools is accepting applications for The Hive - Before and After School Director to serve the students of Belview Elementary School. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation and development of all aspects of the before and after school program at Belview Elementary School. The Director works part-time up to 29 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to interact and work effectively as a part of a team with a diverse range of children, parents, school employees, and community members
- Ability to motivate, direct, and train staff in the day to day operation of this enrichment program
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills Working knowledge of accounting practices
- Proficient in Google Suite Working knowledge of computer/word processing programs
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Ability to carry weight of up to 50 pounds
- Be a positive role model for all stakeholders
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
- Hold CPR and First Aid Certification or be willing to be trained and successfully acquire certification
The program coordinator must meet at least one of the following educational or experiential requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with an endorsement in a child related field from an accredited college or university and one year of programmatic experience in the group care of children; or
- Successful completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit in a child related field from an accredited college or university and one year of programmatic experience in the group care of children; or
- Two years of programmatic experience in the group care of children with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one of the following educational backgrounds: A one year early childhood certificate from an accredited college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours; or A child development credential approved by an accredited educational institution
- Three years of programmatic experience in the group care of children in a staff supervisory capacity and a high school diploma or G.E.D. or verification of completion of a home school program approved by the State of Virginia. Programmatic experience shall be obtained in a child day care center that offers a staff training program that includes the subject areas of first aid, human growth and development from birth to 12 years, and behavior management of children. Such training shall be completed by the employee and documented by the center.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a school system. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable to meet the requirements of the specific assignments.
