What are the responsibilities and job description for the Float Nurse position at Montgomery County School District [VA]?
SCHOOL NURSE
(32.5 hours/week – 200 days/year)
The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for a school nurse position that is immediately available.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The School Nurse will assist the Lead Nurse in the organization, administration, and implementation of school health services and will function as a contributing member of the school health team. The Float Nurse will be assigned to various school sites and/or assignments based upon the needs of the division. This could include covering school clinics for nurses who are absent, supporting clinics at larger schools, attending field trips, working to support 1:1 student needs, and/or participating in student health screenings, among other possible duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license to practice as a registered professional nurse or a licensed professional nurse in Virginia
- One year of nursing experience
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid
- Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families
- Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with other team members
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Previous experience in public health or general nursing, preferably in school nursing or community health nursing with children
