What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher - Elementary position at MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOLS?
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Kentucky Certificate, Emergency Certificate(apply after hire), or Certificate
for Substitute Teaching.
2. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and
acceptable.
REPORTS: Principal
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOAL : To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to the building Principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
- Reviews with the Principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school classroom to which he/she is assigned.
- Teaches the lesson as outlined or planned by the regular teacher.
- Consults, as appropriate, with the building Principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the classroom lesson plans.
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch, recess periods and other breaks.
- Reports in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
- Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
TERM OF SERVICE: Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Substitute Teachers Handbook.
