Education, Certification, and Work-Related Experience:
- Teaching certification in K-5, K-8, 1-8, 6-8 English/Language Arts
- Successful teaching experience in intermediate English Language Arts preferred
- Ideal candidate will have strong abilities in intermediate grades literacy.

Qualities of a Desired Candidate Include:
- A track record of success as evidenced by TCAP scores, student perceptions and relationships, positive communication and relationships with parents, and through the strong recommendation of colleagues and supervisors
- Ability to contribute strongly to a team, collaborate with colleagues and appropriate others
- Past positive experiences in leading and/or participating in a professional learning community structure focused on increasing student achievement and growth
- Understanding of pedagogy and central concepts of content standards as defined by the TNReady State Standards and Tennessee Assessment Blueprints
- A track record of successful implementation of formative and summative assessments data analysis as well as the communication of results to stakeholders, with concrete progress monitoring to increase student ownership and goal setting
- Ability to use data to drive instructional decisions through action-based analysis and reflection, which impacts increased student learning
- Confidence in utilizing technology in a blended learning environment (1:1 student/device ratio) to facilitate instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with students, parents, and other stakeholders
- Ability of a highly motivated educator to cognitively engage the learner and facilitate the instructional process, higher order thinking, problem solving, and real- world connections for students
- Evidence of engaging in high-quality professional development as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education
- Ability to perform any physical duties associated with this position
