Maintenance Worker
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
· High School Diploma or GED
· Valid driver’s license
· Experience working with electrical and plumbing repair
· Experience working with industrial HVAC equipment and knowledge of pneumatic control systems, preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
· Ability to work independently
· Ability to follow a set schedule
· Ability to multi-task
· Ability to be flexible while demonstrating patience and professional demeanor
· Ability to communicate with district staff and visitors with patience and understanding
· Ability to establish and maintain positive working relations with professional and non-professional staff
· Ability to work with custodial employees in the performance of tasks
· Knowledge of characteristics of institutional maintenance and the ability to execute the techniques commonly used
· Possess mechanical skills for the repair and maintenance of vehicles, and various types of equipment
· Ability to prioritize maintenance needs
· Possess record keeping skills as it pertains to maintenance and repair records
· Possess carpentry, plumbing, electric, mechanical, and general maintenance skills
· Ability to operate various pieces of industrial equipment, vehicles, grounds keeping, snow removal equipment, hand tools, and other equipment
· Possess or willingness to learn basic computer skills and utilize such skills
· Ability to read and comprehend work orders, schedules, and/or written instructions/written correspondence
Physical:
· Must be able to work at high elevations (Typically up to 60 feet) including, but not limited to, from a ladder, scaffold, or lift apparatus
· Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull a weight of up to 55 pounds, to carry it up to 100 yards, and to life it to shoulder height
· Must be able to reach over the head to retrieve objects and perform maintenance tasks
· Must be able to crawl into and work in confined spaces to do repairs
· Must be able to operate and pull equipment (such as a hydraulic lift) with up to a 1000-pound load (with assistance)
· Must be able to shovel snow
· Must be able to stoop and bend
· Ability to conduct daily maintenance duties requiring moderate strength and physical coordination
· Must be able to work in all-weather elements
Authority: The Maintenance Staff Member will have the authority to perform all functions listed below in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Functions/Duties/Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. In accordance with both state and/or federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request.
Essential:
· Inspect, maintain, and repair district facilities and property in a timely basis
· Responsible for the continued operation of facilities equipment
· Identify, report, and respond to safety and security concerns of district facilities resulting in efficient resolution
· Perform preventive maintenance on district equipment and facilities
· Provide seasonal exterior care in accordance with district standards including, but not limited to winter elements, leaves, and debris
· Participate in course work as required
· Maintain records of materials used and needed parts in the operation of district equipment
· Be available off hours to respond to emergency situations
· Secure facilities in accordance with district standards
Secondary:
· Perform all tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Facilities
Terms of Employment:
· 12-month position
· In conjunction with Support Agreement
