NIGHT CUSTODIAN FULL-TIME

Full-Time Night Custodian

• Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and safe facility for students, staff, and public
• Maintain that the building and grounds is secure at all times
• Clean assigned areas using standardized procedures and materials in a safe and proper manner
• Cleaning will involve dusting, wet and dry mopping, disinfecting, window washing, collecting trash and removing from building, vacuuming, washing and removing marks from surfaces, and other processes as assigned
• Straighten furniture as needed and perform set-ups and tear-downs for various school activities
• Replenish supplies in rest rooms and other areas as needed
• Monitor building temperature and report any problems to the Director of Facilities in a timely manner
• Perform minor maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs and repairing chairs and tables
• Perform snow and ice removal as needed
• Communicate to Director any problems or unusual incidents and deal with emergency situations
• Complete various plumbing, painting, repair and restoration duties when assigned
• Assist Director of Facilities and other custodial staff on an as needed basis
• Maintain current telephone to receive after hours alarm calls and remain available to respond
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities

Qualifications:

• Three (3) months experience in custodial work preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent is necessary
• Knowledge and understanding of various groundskeeper equipment and supplies is necessary

Physical Demands:

• Ability to reach above and below waist
• Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
• Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
• Ability to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb, and crawl
• Ability to lift and/or carry supplies weighing 75 lbs. or more
• Ability to stand or walk eighty percent (80%) of the workday

Sensory Abilities:

• Visual acuity
• Auditory acuity

Work Environment:

• Ability to work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees
• Subject to outside environmental conditions
• May be exposed to hazardous materials

Temperament:

• Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented
• Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions

Specific Skills:

• Ability to use/operate custodial equipment

License:

• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license

Clearances:

• Must provide current Act 114, 34 and 151 background checks
