A DAY IN THE LIFE
The Project Geologist is charged with completing assigned tasks on a variety of geological / scientific projects under limited supervision of an experienced professional (Associate or Principal Geologist or Engineer) during completion of site assessments, RCRA / CERCLA investigations, and environmental remediation and site restoration projects. During the initial 3-6 months, field efforts will be required in excess of 70% of the time, with a future expectation of 50% of the time. While in the field, you will work with a more experienced Geologist or alone on a specific project an estimated 3-4 days per week. Outside of this project work, you will be expected to support other field and project management support services on large PFAS Remedial Investigation projects located throughout the Southeast. You will also be expected to execute and provide leadership and mentorship during the performance of field tasks associated with data collection, consistently with an eye on quality and safety. We expect that you will apply the concepts you learned through the required educational and prior professional experience to address these tasks.
This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including :
- Conducts field inspections, reconnaissance, and data collection activities per regulatory standards and as directed
- Supervises subcontractors and field personnel performing geophysical surveys, environmental sampling, and environmental remediation
- Creates project deliverables such as technical reports, field summaries, data tables, and graphical representations of assessment findings in a logical and professional manner
- Is proficient in field sampling and data collection, along with its QA / QC, evaluation, analysis, and presentation
- Communicates with Project Manager when potential issues are foreseen, or potential issues arise that may inhibit performing tasks within the allotted schedule and budget
- Develops and strengthens technical capabilities in a range of applications in both the field and the office
- Completes scientific analysis with minimal supervision
- Collaborates with, or leads, technical staff and / or entry level geologists and CAD / GIS personnel
- Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific project tasks
- Tracks project hours and utilizes time effectively to complete assigned tasks within assigned timeframe(s)
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including completion of all required safety trainings and programs
- Participates in the company's continuous improvement programs and supports team efforts
- Stays up to date on industry trends by completing formal trainings, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops
- Work environment will vary greatly depending on nature of assigned tasks.
- The position will involve travel (local and out-of-state) - amount to be determined but not-to-exceed 70% initially and 50% after the initial 3-6 months.
