The ideal candidate must thrive in working in an entrepreneurial type of environment, has a BA or BS in accounting and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience.
General
- Ensure the accuracy of the accounting and financial data and its compliance with GAAP
- Prepare and report financial and operational results to the CFO monthly.
- Maintain the monthly and year-end reconciliation process - claim liability, Insurance, taxes etc.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Handle the Treasury Function for the company including managing the lines of credit, bank balances, loan payments, meeting covenant requirements and bank audits.
- Coordinate the Risk Management and Insurance programs.
- Manage the process of annual reviews/audits of the financial statements.
- Research advanced accounting issues, identify possible solutions, and summarize conclusions to present to Management.
- Prepare monthly MD&A and management reporting.
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process
- Participate in M&A due diligence and lead financial systems and process integration.
Management
- Lead an accounting staff of over 10 people. Help the accounting team with the completion of ongoing projects by successfully planning, prioritizing, and constantly monitoring the progress on them. Furthermore, identifying other areas that need/could be improved to help the organization financial position or to improve the efficiency and the quality of the accounting data.
- As part of the above process, manage all annual reviews of employees.
- Oversee the accounting department to ensure strong internal controls as well as proper maintenance of all accounting systems, and function.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Day-to-day
- Oversee all financial transactions for the organization with focus on cash flow planning and ensuring the availability of funds as needed.
- Provide financial data as needed for tax returns and quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Support where necessary the operations teams to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Oversees the operations for the Payroll Systems.
- Stay on top of the prompt collection of accounts receivable and related follow-up/collection on aged items
- Ensure that required debt payments and/or shareholder distributions are made on a timely basis
- Ensure all chart of accounts, accounting files, systems of accounting controls are effectively maintained

Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable.
- 5-10 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in logistics.
- Strong Computer skills with expert proficiency in Excel. Experience with Intacct, Paylocity and Salesforce is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization is essential.
- Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
