Job Summary:
Monument Academy is seeking a compassionate and skilled special education teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in order to promote academic, social, and emotional growth. The candidate will work collaboratively with parents, school administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the behavior of all students in the classroom, throughout school grounds, and on educational trips, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Provide specialized instruction and support in accordance with IEP goals and objectives.
Develop and implement behavior management plans as necessary.
Evaluate and document student progress using a variety of assessment tools.
Collaborate with parents, school administrators, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting students' needs.
Participate in meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain accurate and timely records and documentation.
Advocate for students and families to ensure access to necessary services and resources.
Required Skills & Abilities:

Excellent problem solving skills with a solution oriented mindset
A firm understanding and expertise in compliance laws set forth by the federal and state government for students with disabilities or exceptional needs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Data tracking with fidelity
Proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's or master's degree in special education or related field.
State teaching certification in special education.
Experience working with students with disabilities in a school or community-based setting.
Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures.
Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
Knowledge of community resources and the ability to make appropriate referrals.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning in order to teach each child.
