What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Affairs Intern – Summer 2025 position at Monument Advocacy?
Monument Advocacy seeks college-, post-graduate- or graduate-level candidates for PUBLIC AFFAIRS INTERNSHIP based in their Seattle office. Monument is a nationally recognized consulting firm, focused on government relations, strategic communications, and public affairs. We maintain groundbreaking practices in numerous fields, including technology and innovation; sustainability; tax, trade, and economic policy; travel and immigration; defense and cybersecurity; healthcare; food, agriculture, energy, and more. This is a great opportunity for a rising college senior looking to enter the public affairs field, or a recent college graduate looking for an entry level position in policy communications work.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Drafting content such as press releases, op-eds, media pitches, blog posts, etc.
- Creating social media content ideas and copy
- Assisting with research and media monitoring projects
- Note-taking and writing summaries of meetings and events for leadership
- Supporting press events, media prep, and other duties as part of larger communications campaigns
- Tracking media coverage and other metrics to compile client reports on project deliverables
Desired skills include:
- Strong writing ability and a desire and initiative to improve their writing and communications skills
- Interest in public policy and local politics
- Knowledge of digital communications platforms and strategies
- Ability to research a number of different public policy issues
- Design experience through platforms such as Canva (although we can also offer training)
Due date for the application for the Spring/Summer 2025 Class is April 15. This internship is in-person.
