JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Manager will assist in the effective management and direction of restaurant operations in reference to quality service, supervision for employees, monitor quality and consistency of food production, cost control, and inventory.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directly supervise Banquet Captains and Housepersons management, as well as room set up, checking in on guests, and assist with any other guest needs
- Monitors and approves all employee timecard punches
- Ensures the accurate and timely delivery of Banquet checks to the Front Desk for billing
- Ensures that Captains and assistant Manager receives the BEO’s in order to ensure that the rooms are properly set up
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma preferred
- At least two years’ experience in banquets in a supervisory position required
- Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers certification prior to beginning work
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Ability to use a moderately complex computer system
- Able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guests and employees so as to respond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform tasks that include walking, sitting, and bending at the waist
- Ability to sit for long period of time
