The Account Specialist provides full customer consultation and obtains, maintains, and services assigned Small Business Commercial Lines accounts in our Small Business Unit (Ascend). This position requires a highly organized individual, able to work independently with minimal supervision. The Account Specialist provides, maintains, or improves services while building professional relationships with multiple customer contacts. The Account Specialist must perform to the ethical standards required by the Colorado Department of Insurance and Moody Insurance Agency, Inc.
Job Functions:
Following is a brief outline of essential tasks for the Account Specialist position, but other responsibilities and duties may be assigned:
- Provide customer service to clients (answers questions, provides certificates as requested, etc.)
- Review contractual language; suggest changes as necessary.
- During market renewals, prepare and analyze account reviews and gather additional information as needed from the client. Create and distribute the renewal submission once finalized.
- Order coverage within company binding authority and/or agency guidelines.
- Bill premiums and commissions in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with department policy
- Process Interim and Final Audits in the Agency Management System
- Review and resolve audit disputes.
- Order endorsements from the carrier accurately, according to Commercial Lines Procedure Manual
- Verify endorsements received from the insurance company match what was requested.
- Check policies to verify the information matches quotes, proposals and/or the Agency Management System according to Commercial Lines Procedure Manual
- Process cancellation notices.
- Issue Auto ID cards as requested.
- Issue Certificates of Insurance the same day as requested.
- Order loss runs through appropriate company websites.
- Follow up on suspense items daily, in accordance with department policy.
- Round out accounts by selling new products to maintain client’s needs. Coordinate with Property & Casualty and Personal Lines to determine suitable lines to cross sell.
- May be asked to perform account management duties on assigned clients in accordance with established policies and procedures. If assigned, will handle renewals, billing/audits, and client relationship management as Account Manager on each assigned client.
- Maintain a current, active license always. Complete Continuing Education classes as required to maintain license, or as requested by Management. Should hold or be working toward at least one of the following insurance designations: CIC, CISR, ARM, or CRIS, as requested by management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Able to read and write in English.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must possess (or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire) a valid Colorado Property and Casualty License; insurance designations such as CIC, CISR, ARM, or CRIS strongly desired.
- Minimum 3 years experience in Commercial Lines insurance
- Must possess proficient computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel, and Agency Management System software (AMS 360 or similar).
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding consulting, sales and negotiating skills.
- Strong customer service and team skills; must interact effectively with clients, co-workers, and management.
- Strong attention to detail
- Solid organizational skills and ability to work efficiently under strict time constraints.
- Proven ability to analyze and solve problems.
