What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineering Section Head position at Moog Aircraft?
The Moog Military Aircraft Actuation Development Engineering Group is currently seeking a Design Engineering Section Head to lead our design group, focusing on existing and next-generation aircraft actuation systems and controls for the military aircraft market. As the section head, you will be responsible to lead a team of Design and Analysis engineers, further develop design standards, and ensure project milestones are being met so that the expectations of our customers are met or exceeded. This role will report to the East Aurora actuation site engineering manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.
As the Design Engineering Section Head, you will:
- Contribute as a key member on a team of creative, independent individuals to develop, integrate, and verify complex hydraulic and electromechanical control systems
- Participate in design product discussions across development teams and Moog sites; as well as involvement with the common development process, design reviews, and customer meetings
- Drive staffing planning and coordination of a growing team of design engineers
- Lead and mentor team members by providing goals, feedback and recognition and developing talent through career planning and progression
- Model best practices, as well as Moog core values, to promote development of world-class talent
- Support bid and proposal development volumes, estimations, sales support, expense, capital projects, and research and development projects as needed
- Contribute to the long term strategy and lead implementation of new design engineering processes, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives
To be considered for this role, here are the Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a preference for a MS Degree in Engineering and typically ten years design/analysis experience
- Due to involvement with certain government programs, US Citizenship is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven capabilities in the technical and professional field of aerospace design engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach engineers of various skill sets and experience
- Knowledge of Hydraulic and Electromechanical Actuation
- Proficiency with NX software, Teamcenter, Mathcad, tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, Finite Element Analysis
