What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steel Detailer / Project Manager / Estimator position at Moon Fabricating Corp.?
- Steel Detailing / Project Management / Estimating:
- Read and interpret Client Design Drawings to ensure design accuracy.
- Create and modify shop drawings for steel fabrications (storage tanks, stacks, ductwork, etc. including material specifications, welding, bolting, and surface preparation details.
- Develop assembly drawings, detailing where and how to position fabricated steel members.
- Utilize 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor) for job sequencing, set-up, and accurate design documentation.
- Establish bills of materials (BOMs) for all projects and coordinate material orders accordingly.
- Understand and apply fabrication processes such as cutting, welding, bolting, and painting / rubber lining requirements, and oversee shipping sequences.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, and subcontractors, ensuring seamless project execution.
- Identify and solve design or construction issues proactively.
- Estimating Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret design drawings to calculate materials, labor, and equipment needed for project execution.
- Organize and manage multiple project details simultaneously for efficient estimate submission.
- Assess financial, technical, and operational risks and incorporate them into the estimation process.
- Prepare and submit detailed quotations, aligning with project specifications and company standards.
- Assist with schedule planning, project kick-offs, and management strategies.
Skills and Competencies:
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read, interpret, and apply client supplied design drawings.
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD): Experience with CAD software; Autodesk Inventor
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure all work complies with design specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Problem-Solving: Identify issues and recommend solutions during the design, fabrication, and erection phases.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with client, vendors, and team members.
- Estimating Skills: Technical knowledge of construction techniques and materials to produce accurate estimates.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of relevant industry experience in steel detailing, steel fabrication and welding is preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, plans and specifications required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of basic welding and fabrication processes is preferred.
- Experience with steel fabrication-related estimating is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
