Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                                        

       Moon Valley Nurseries is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Groundsman to join our Tree Climber Crew. This role involves working alongside a team of experienced tree climbers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality tree care services. The Groundsman is responsible for supporting the crew by maintaining equipment, assisting with tree trimming, clean-up, and other ground operations. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to safety, teamwork, and an enthusiasm for working outdoors.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                          

• Assist Tree Climber Crew: Provide support to tree climbers by managing ropes, tools, and supplies on the ground.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including setting up safety zones, using proper PPE, and managing ground traffic around the work area.
• Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect, clean, and maintain chainsaws, ropes, and other tools, ensuring they are in safe working condition.
• Site Preparation and Clean-Up: Prepare the job site by clearing debris and equipment, and clean up after work is completed.
• Communication: Maintain clear communication with tree climbers to ensure seamless and safe operations.
• Loading/Unloading: Assist with the transportation of equipment to and from job sites, as well as loading/unloading trucks.
• Other Duties: Perform additional ground-level tree care duties, such as pruning, stump grinding, and other landscaping tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities                                                                                                                                 

• Prior experience in landscaping, tree care, or groundskeeping preferred but not required. Willing to train motivated candidates.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, perform physically demanding tasks, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Understanding of basic safety practices in tree care or landscaping work environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of chainsaws, ropes, and tree trimming equipment is beneficial.

Education                                                                                                                                                                                               

High School Diploma or equivalent

 Physical requirements/Working Conditions                                                                                                                                 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
