Job Summary

The Senior Vice President, Retail Strategy & Corporate Operations will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving the strategic vision and operational excellence across the organization. This highly visible role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in retail operations, e-commerce, corporate strategy, and innovation. The SVP will work closely with the C-Suite and Private Equity Partners to shape the future of the company, ensuring seamless integration of business planning, operations transformation, and asset protection. This position reports into the Chief Operations Officer.

Moon Valley Nurseries started with humble roots and just one small location in a neighborhood north of downtown Phoenix known as "Moon Valley." Owner Les Blake began this nursery 30 years ago, after one successful season of growing the best pumpkins and Christmas trees in the valley.

One thing Les found in the early days was customers were always asking about having trees planted. At the time, most nurseries sold trees separately from the planting services and warranty. Addressing the gap in service, Moon Valley Nursery pioneered "you buy it, and we plant it" tree deals, bundling the purchase, design, delivery and installation. This customer-centric approach was an immediate hit and remains a core offering today.

Realizing that buying trees from other suppliers didn't provide enough quantity, and the quality varied, Moon Valley Nursery committed to growing its own trees to ensure consistent quality while also eliminating reliance on external suppliers. This commitment continues to be a foundation for their success today.

Today, Moon Valley Nurseries operates 50 plus stores and are growing at a rapid pace continuing their unwavering commitment to excellence, taking immense pride in cultivating and maintaining a top-tier selection of trees and plants. The Company sells 300,000 trees annually, has grown over one million trees, and has 10,000 acres under management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for operations innovation, business development, and strategic planning.
• Oversee the development and execution of e-commerce strategies to enhance digital presence and drive revenue growth.
• Drive operations transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead Asset Protection and Emergency Response efforts to safeguard company assets and ensure business continuity.
• Develop and implement comprehensive corporate strategies aligned with overall business goals.
• Manage facility maintenance operations to ensure optimal functionality and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead retail support teams to ensure alignment with operational goals and enhance store performance.
• Foster continuous improvement in standard operating processes to drive consistency and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with C-Suite executives and Private Equity Partners to align strategic initiatives with business objectives.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Spearhead cross-functional initiatives to integrate omnichannel retail strategies, enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Develop and oversee data-driven decision-making processes to optimize inventory management, sales forecasting, and operational performance.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success and drive accountability across teams.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with vendors, suppliers, and third-party service providers to enhance operational capabilities and cost efficiencies.
• Lead enterprise-wide technology and automation adoption to streamline operations and improve scalability.
• Develop and implement workforce planning strategies to ensure talent retention, succession planning, and leadership development.
• Drive corporate sustainability initiatives and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs to align with industry standards and consumer expectations.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and cost optimization strategies to maximize profitability and ensure sustainable growth.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks related to supply chain, compliance, and regulatory requirements to safeguard company operations.
• Champion a customer-centric approach by leveraging data analytics, feedback mechanisms, and market trends to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

Qualifications : Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Physical requirements / Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and / or move items over 15 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
