Driver

Job Summary:
The Part-Time DOT Driver will operate a box truck with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 26,000 pounds, traveling weekly to the Hickory region in North Carolina. This role involves loading and unloading freight, adhering to DOT regulations, and maintaining a high standard of communication and attention to detail. This position requires up to 20 hours per week, with regular travel on Wednesdays and Thursdays, delivering leather horses to facilities and backhauling furniture or leather as needed by Moore & Giles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and drive a box truck with a GVW of up to 26,000 pounds.
• Travel weekly to the Hickory, North Carolina region.
• Load and unload freight using proper handling equipment.
• Deliver leather horses to the facility and backhaul furniture, leather, or other materials as required.
• Communicate effectively with vendors and on-site staff.
• Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Perform vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
• Ensure load contents are securely packaged and organized.
• Practice safe driving techniques and follow delivery and rest schedules.
• Comply with Moore & Giles policies and DOT driver regulations.

• Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous driving experience of at least two years is required.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations is required.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of an ERP system, Microsoft email, Excel, and Word is preferred.

Pay: From $18.50 per hour
