Moore Bass Consulting is a growing, well-established civil engineering firm providing consulting services throughout the southeast. Some of our many services include Civil; Environmental; Land Surveying; Land Planning; Landscape Architecture; and Construction Administration.
Moore Bass Consulting has an opening for an experienced Environmental Scientist for our McDonough, GA office. The position requires a strong understanding of wetlands and natural resource planning. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks including wetland delineation, construction site inspections, project reporting, permitting assistance, and correspondence with internal staff and clients. This role requires regular interaction with government agencies and elected officials as well as our internal engineering and surveying department. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
Typical Duties:
- Wetland delineations and wetland assessments.
- Locating wetland flags with handheld GPS units.
- Soil characterizations.
- Performing botanical and wildlife surveys.
- General mitigation and monitoring.
- Forest stand delineations.
- Coordinating with clients and engineers to prepare wetland delineation reports and plans.
- Forest conservation plans.
- Wetland and stream mitigation plans.
- Wetland permit applications.
- Representation of projects in front of various governmental review boards.
- Work within project scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects.
- Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: BS degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resources, or related field
Registrations: Certified Professional Wetland Scientist (preferred, not required)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 2 years of related experience in support of public and private projects, including field work
- Experience with regulatory approval processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- GPS, GIA, and AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
- Willingness to work independently, including field work
