What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veteran Treatment Court Director position at Moore County Government?
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
This grant-funded position is responsible for overseeing the implementation, coordination, and ongoing operations of the Veterans Treatment Court program. As the liaison between the criminal justice system, treatment providers, and support services, the Veterans Treatment Court Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring program success and meeting the needs of veteran participants. This position works in close collaboration with judges, specialty court staff, the Adult Probation Department, Treatment Alternatives to Street Crimes (TASC), the United States Veteran’s Administration’s Justice Outreach Specialist, and other local organizations. This position will also collaborate with peer mentors, community behavior health providers, law enforcement, and ancillary veteran organizations. This position is based in Moore County, NC and requires a combination of office-based and community-based work. Travel within the county and frequent evening or weekend work may be required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- In-depth understanding of mental health issues such as PTSD, TBI, and substance use
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in grant writing, report preparation, and data tracking systems
- Knowledge of adult mental health and substance use treatment is essential
- Strong background in program management and community engagement
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree and at least three (3) years of relevant experience in veteran assistance programs, criminal justice, and/or behavioral health
- Due to the high rate of substance abuse and behavioral health issues related to PTSD in the Moore County region, experience in the high-threat, overseas operations is highly desired, in order to fully relate to the program participants and liaison with community behavioral health and veteran’s assistance programs.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license
- Will be required to obtain the U.S. Department of Justice Grants Financial Management Training Certification within 60 days of employment
HIRING RANGE Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This is a grant-funded position and remains in effect for the duration of the grant period unless amended by mutual agreement or terminated by either party without cause upon 180 calendar days’ notice to the other party.
