- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and public health education activities•General knowledge of the methods and techniques used in preparing & disseminating educational information to the public•Ability to write and speak effectively and to present ideas in a comprehensive manner•Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines•Ability to understand the social and psychological factors relating to a target group’s receptivity to service utilization•Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making in community organization, assessment, and program planning, implementation, and evaluation•Ability to work effectively with people on all educational levels and to maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, community agencies, and the public
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s LicenseThis is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and feeling; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, and atmospheric conditions.
