Overview
Seeking a field technician to perform niche construction and engineering-based testing to collect data with a variety of testing equipment and construction tools including but not limited to hammer drills, core drills, light concrete grinding equipment, tribometers, gloss/roughness meters, megohmeters, etc. Training on the use of specific equipment, test methods, and tools will be provided, but familiarity around power tools and/or equipment is a plus.
Testing will be performed mostly in the field but also in our laboratory in Voorhees, New Jersey. Data collected from these tests is then expected to be turned into Microsoft Word and/or Excel deliverables on company-provided templates and reviewed by an in-house engineer and produced in a report for the client to easily understand the results. Familiarity in construction processes, trades, or experience in other technical fields and a willingness to master specific standardized testing protocols (ANSI/ASTMs, etc.) is required.

This role requires working alone on a job site with limited oversight after in-house training is complete. Must be willing to travel nationally on average 60% of the time via company-provided vehicle or company-funded travel on a commercial plane, depending on workload, site location, and project types in the pipeline. Company credit card is provided for all travel-related expenses, and no personal upfront costs are necessary for business-related travel.
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. An Associate degree in a technical discipline, relevant trade certification, or bachelor's degree preferred but not required depending on experience. Examples of relevant experience would be HVAC technician, construction inspector, automotive mechanic, or other lines of hands-on mechanical/technical trades.
Experience using MS word and MS Excel functions and ability to learn and utilize new software effectively is required. We are an almost entirely paperless office using software to manage every aspect of our business. Candidates must be able to learn and utilize these tools in daily tasks and follow company-provided templates and procedures for data collecting and reporting. Candidates should have proficient writing skills able to follow templates and be able to draft and produce reports of the data they have collected.
Duties
- Collect data with variety of testing equipment and construction tools.
- Analyze research data collection.
- Document findings and prepare detailed reports on inspections, tests, and analyses conducted in the field.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to address issues that arise during data collection. Assist in the development of quality control plans and procedures for ongoing projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Experience
- Proven experience in quality inspection within the construction industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures related to construction materials.
- Knowledge of construction processes, trades or experience in other technical fields and a willingness to master specific standardized testing protocols (ANSI/ASTMs, etc.) is required
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
- Experience working on construction sites, understanding safety protocols, and adhering to best practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
