What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Manager position at Moore Industries, Inc.?
The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing & ensuring proper inventory control planning to meet production. This position will ensure deviations to inventory levels are investigated and properly followed up.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Manufacturing Manager to monitor inventory levels for production plans and forecasts
- Review sales forecasts to adjust purchasing requirements necessary to support production
- Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges
- Oversee the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the company, in addition to all inventory items
- Confer with requesting parties when specific sources are requested
- Investigate and solve problems resulting from material shortages, however caused
- Oversee changes in BOM, in conjunction with Program Management team
- Monitor inventory adjustments and manage cycle counting
- Monitor obsolete products and assist sales to remove from inventory
- Manage the Moore Industries, Inc. operating budget with the rest of the management staff. It is expected that this position will maintain budget objectives on a monthly and annual basis to achieve profit goals for the company
- Report any safety issues immediately
- Other duties and secondary functions as assigned
