Position Available: Estate Gardener
Private Estate – South Jersey
Located in Moorestown, New Jersey. This 46 -acre private estate consists of extensive formal gardens, fountains, woodland gardens, vegetable and cut flower gardens, extensive planters, managed natural woodland, a conservatory, an orchid collection, a production greenhouse, a vineyard, fruit trees and an apiary.
We are seeking an energetic person to join us in maintaining and enriching this beautiful estate in South Jersey. The position requires the person to be able to work with a team and independently.
This is a full-time position – 40 hrs./wk.
Duties and Responsibilities
All grounds-keeping duties including, but not limited to: Planting, watering, trimming, mulching...
Weed control, fertilizing, seasonal decorating
Hedge trimming and light tree pruning
Weeding
Fall cleanup and snow removal
Irrigation monitoring and repair
Pesticide applications to ornamentals
Other duties as assigned
Helping maintain formal gardens and expand the extensive woodland shade gardens
Assist with honeybees and grape harvest/wine processing
Maintaining and harvesting vegetable garden
Education and Experience
Prefer someone with a degree in horticulture - 2 or 4 year program, or horticultural training from a program/job with experience working in the field of ornamental horticulture.
Knowledgeable in plant identification and cultural requirements of ornamental plants
Familiar with Integrated Pest Management strategies
Job Requirements
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Comfortable working outside in all types of weather conditions.
Capable and comfortable using various small and large power equipment as well as typical garden related hand tools and implements
Capable of walking, standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods of time.
