POSITION TITLE: Tribal Enforcement Officer

DEPARTMENT: Tribal Enforcement

REPORTS TO: Tribal Enforcement Sergeant

SCHEDULE: Full-Time (Flexible-May be assigned to any shift)

SALARY: $19.80 Hourly

CLOSED DATE: Open Until Filled

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Tribal Enforcement Director, protects the general welfare and safety of residents and property of Mooretown Rancheria. The Tribal Enforcement Officer provides the Tribal Enforcement Director with information that will facilitate the discovery and prosecution of persons involved in the trafficking of drugs, destruction of property, and other direct violations of the law.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Patrol the housing development and Mooretown Rancheria lands, and report any activities or persons that do not comply with Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority ordinances, Mooretown Rancheria ordinances, and state and federal laws.

2. Testify as a witness in a court of law as necessary and in accordance with the law.

3. Enforce, through documentation and verbal warnings to residents and visitors to Mooretown Rancheria and tribal lands, ordinances, resolutions, regulations and tribal laws in place pertaining to Mooretown Rancheria and tribal lands.

4. Report any suspicious activity that causes the Tribal Enforcement Officer to believe that drug use and/or trafficking is taking place on Mooretown Rancheria or Tribal lands.

5. Stop, as needed, at the discretion of the Tribal Enforcement Officer, any non-resident from entering the residential area of Mooretown Rancheria if the non-resident cannot provide information upon request regarding the resident, he/she is visiting.

6. Intervene only in situations that do not put him/her or others at greater risk.

7. Does not use or carry any firearms.

8. Authority to call local law enforcement at the discretion of the Tribal Enforcement Officer and to make a citizen’s arrest as needed.

9. Maintain confidentiality of records and information.

10. To obey all ordinances, regulations, guidelines and policies which the Tribal Enforcement Director or the Tribal Council shall adopt.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be 21 years of age or older.

2. Experience in residential/property security, law enforcement, or related field.

3. Valid California Driver’s License is required and must be insurable. Will be required to travel on occasion during or after regular work hours.

4. Must possess and maintain a current First Aid Certificate.

5. Must possess and maintain a Security Guard Card.

6. California POST Certificate preferred, but not required.

7. Must be able to attain State Qualified Taser Certification.

8. Ability to establish and maintain effective personal relations with staff and tribal members.

9. Preference will be given to Native Americans (25 USC 472A).

10. Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background investigation, live scan and a physical examination.

11. Must have a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable on Mooretown Rancheria’s automobile policy.
